Today I learned, based on my completely comprehensive and thorough internet research, that there are more than 160 forms of poetry. Additionally, I learned that The Odyssey is in fact a poem, of the epic variety. Good for Homer. 12,000+ lines of dactylic hexameter isn’t for the weak or faint of heart. It’s also not for me (yet).
How about we start a little smaller. A haiku sounds nice and manageable.
“The Sourdough Baker”
I mix, and it sticks
Stretch, fold, stretch, over again
Rest, and it’s golden
OK, someone write a better sourdough haiku. Please. For all our literary sakes.
(P.S. If you read Day 1, I told you I was a little quirky – you’ve been fully warned.)
Thanks for stopping by. See you next time.
